Monthly report February 2026

A few days ago, I was having my morning quiet time and while I was praying I realized that my prayer was like I was putting in an order at a restaurant.  It stopped me in my prayer tracks!  I went back to the model prayer Jesus gave us.  It caused me to think of just who I was talking to: the Almighty God, the Creator of all things, the One who defines love, the Way, the Truth, the Life.

We define God a lot of ways with a lot of words but sometimes we tend to forget His Majesty and we lose our awe of who He is.  The word awesome has been used so much it has lost its true meaning of our relationship with God.  We get so lost in our friendship with Him that it has diminished our memory of the I AM.

My approach to Him has changed and my relationship is different.  My prayer life has turned to one of more respect and gratitude.   I don't expect His blessings; I hope for them.  This relationship change caused me to rejoice even more for the miracles and the gifts He has given me and God's Kitchen in the past and in the present.   He keeps my spiritual mind and eyes open to just what He is doing in my daily life and the life of the ministry He has given me.  So when I, or we, get that answer to prayer or receive that special blessing it activates my awe and my affirmation that what we are doing is His will.  That encourages me in the tough times.  It reminds me why we call it "God's Kitchen".

As you may already know, God's Kitchen is moving to a new, larger building at 2804 Reid Street, Palatka.  I have been waiting for things to move along with the renovation of the new building to report to you of our progress.  The hold up has been the location and the size of our new septic system.  This slowed down the permitting process with the county.  We hired a consultant to do all the stuff the health department needed.  He did an excellent job and we thank Floyd Williams of AFJ Environmental Services.  We are now waiting for the health department to approve the permits for the septic and plumbing.  Meanwhile, we will have a walk through with Preston Electric to get the building rewired.  Next will be Palatka Heat & Air to upgrade the HVAC.

However, we have not been sitting on our hands during this wait time.  Sean Pease has been continuing the general construction part of the renovation.  He and Bob Salmme[sp?] have been working and have gotten the kitchen ready for the plumbers, and Sean is presently working on the office spaces.  He will finish the kitchen when the plumbers are finished and the water is in.

We continue to grow, as the latest stats will show.  We thank all of our donors and church support for your continued faithfulness.

Dennis Childers, Executive Director, God's Kitchen.  Forever in His Service.
